Robert L. Bell

ROBERT L. BELL is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Washington Bar Association and the current Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Paine College in Augusta, Georgia. He has served as Chair of the WBA/WBALF Law Day Program in May 2006 and will serve as Chair of the Law Day Program in May 2007. In addition, Mr. Bell has served as Chair of the WBA historic Brown & Bolling 50th Anniversary Celebration @ the Kennedy Center, and has served as a past Chair of the WBA Annual Ollie May Cooper Award Program and Founders' Lecture. Mr. Bell has provided extensive leadership in community service and national service organizations, such as serving as Past Grand Chief Justice of Sigma Delta Tau Legal Fraternity, Inc., and as past President, WIAC/UNCF. Mr. Bell has been the recipient of numerous community service and professional service awards, including, but not limited to, the WBA Board Member of the Year (2005) and the WBA President's Award for Outstanding Service (2006). He is a Life Member of both the Washington Bar Association and the National Bar Association. He is a seasoned trial lawyer who won the first jury verdict under Title IX in the nation. A graduate of Paine College and Howard University School of Law, Mr. Bell served as Case Development Editor of the Howard Law Journal. Mr. Bell has his own practice, Bell Law Firm, with offices in Washington, D.C. He is licensed to practice law in Washington, D.C.
