Charles G. Byrd, Jr.
CHARLES G. BYRD, JR. is a partner in the law firm of Alston & Byrd with offices located in Annapolis, Baltimore and Greenbelt, Maryland. Mr. Byrd practices law in the District and in Maryland. His legal practice is primarily in the fields of general civil and corporate litigation. Mr. Byrd became a member of the WBA Board of Directors in 2005. He is the chair of the WBA's medical/drug and diversity initiatives. Mr. Byrd also sits on the WBA's Audit Committee.
Mr. Byrd has been a member of the National Bar Association since 1987 and has held the positions of Board Member and Regional Director for Region IV. Mr. Byrd has also served as president and a board member of the Monumental City Bar Association and Monumental City Bar Foundation in Baltimore, Maryland and as a member of several committees of the National Bar Association, American Bar Association and Maryland State Bar Association. Additionally, he sits on a host of civic boards.
Mr Byrd received his B.A. from Loyola College (Maryland) in 1983 with a major in business administration and his JD (cum laude) from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1987. Mr. Byrd was the second African American to become a member of the law review at the law school. He was admitted to the bar in 1987, and worked at Venable LLP from 1987 until 1991 when he formed Alston & Byrd.
