Raising the Bar is a Washington Bar Association mentorship program designed for recent law graduates who are preparing for the bar examination . The objective of the program is to increase first time bar passage rates for law graduates. There is no minimum time requirement involved with mentoring. Mentors and mentees will be matched based on a set of established criteria, including the state where the mentee is sitting for the bar examination. The mentee and mentor will establish the parameters for the mentoring relationship. The mentoring relationship officially concludes AFTER bar examination results are released. Mentors and mentees are encouraged to stay in touch beyond the examination process.
Types of assistance offered to mentees include but is not limited to:
- Giving advice on time management and testing taking skills
- Lending bar materials
- Acting as a cheerleader (source of encouragement)
