"Raising the Bar" Mentorship Program

The WBA Young Lawyers Division Raising the Bar Initiative is sponsoring the Raising the Bar Mentorship Program for the July 2017 bar exam. This mentorship program is designed for recent law graduates preparing for the bar examination.

There is no minimum time requirement involved with mentoring. Mentors and mentees will be matched based on a set of established criteria, including the state where the mentee is sitting for the bar examination. The mentee and mentor will establish the parameters for the mentoring relationship. The mentoring relationship officially concludes.

AFTER bar examination results are released. Mentors and mentees are encouraged to stay in touch beyond the examination process.
Types of assistance offered to mentees include but is not limited to:

  • Giving advice on time management and test-taking skills
  • Lending barmaterials
  • Acting as a cheerleader (source of encouragement)

This program is open to all recent graduates taking a bar examination. However, persons taking the bar for an additional jurisdiction and repeat test takers are also welcome and encouraged to apply for a bar mentor.

Attorneys, if you would like to be a bar mentor, please complete the application form HERE, or e-mail the Raising the Bar Initiative Committee at wba.yldraisingthebar@gmail.com
