Young Lawyers Division - Chairperson’s Message
Yaida O. Ford, Esq.

As chair of the YLD for the 2009-2010 year, my mission is to help equip young lawyers and law students with the skills they need to succeed professionally and socially.  Solid networking skills can help build the relationships young lawyers need to propel their careers and ultimately, their lives in the right direction.  Under my leadership, YLD events will serve to meet the needs of young lawyers and address issues that are relevant to the climate in our profession.  YLD events will also serve as opportunities for young lawyers to mentor law students and newly licensed attorneys who need guidance and support during their transition from law school to the legal field.  Finally, I aim to take YLD to a higher level of service in meeting the needs of the most disadvantaged residents in the District through partnering with council members, clergy and other bar associations who are committed to social justice.  All YLD members will be called upon to continue to build the Washington Bar Association’s legacy of service to the community and commitment to the development of lawyers of color.
