Greetings WBA Family:
As we embark on the 2019-2020 bar year, I invite you to join me and the Executive Board for what is promised to be an amazing year. It will be filled with extensive networking through social activities, community service, and building sustainable relationships through collaborations with more organizations so we can ultimately have an even greater impact and provide an even greater service in our communities.
Our theme for this bar year is "Progress Towards Change". As we reflect on the accomplishments of our 49 past presidents, we continue their amazing work during the present bar year through our key initiatives - service, mentorship, diversity and our returning citizens, and we envision a brighter tomorrow for us all by helping to shape the future of our communities and this country.
Through our standing service committees, such as Knowledge is Power, we will continue to provide information and resources that are either unbeknownst to our communities or not easily accessible to them. Through our new mentorship program, we look to change the way the next generation views the potential for success and we will provide the guidance and resources for them to succeed, whether it is our law students, college students, or high school students. They are all capable and it is our job to pour into them to ensure their success. Through our many collaborations, we look to focus on the success of our returning citizens by changing the way they are informed about their rights upon re-entry into society.
As President of this amazing organization, I invite you as well as challenge you to join us in our fight to elevate the personal and professional lives of our members and the citizens of our communities by working to eliminate bias, enhancing diversity and ensuring that everyone is afforded equal justice under law. It is my honor to serve you this year and I look forward to working with you all.
Henry E. Floyd, Jr.
50th President of the WBA
