The Washington Bar Association (WBA) is one of the oldest, largest, and most powerful Affiliate Chapters of the National Bar Association (NBA). Founded in 1925—the same year the WBA was founded—the NBA is the nation’s oldest and largest national network of predominantly African-American attorneys and judges. It represents the interests of approximately 65,000 lawyers, judges, law professors and law students. The NBA is organized around 23 substantive law sections, 9 divisions, 12 regions and 80 affiliate chapters throughout the United States and around the world.

André C. Bruce
National Bar Association Regional Director
André C. Bruce is a corporate and commercial business attorney, currently serving as Corporate Counsel for a consulting/defense contracting company in Washington, D.C. As Corporate Counsel, André manages the company’s legal and human resources departments and acts as a trusted advisor to the company’s CEO and COO, respectively. Prior to his current role, Mr. Bruce dedicated five and a half years to serving his community as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Charles County, MD. While with the Assistant State’s Attorney’s Office, Mr. Bruce acquired extensive trial experience, and led the Financial Crimes Unit. Prior to joining the State’s Attorney Office, Mr. Bruce was an Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights.
Outside of work, Mr. Bruce spends his time volunteering for various organizations throughout the community. Mr. Bruce received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School Of Law, where he was an active member of the Black Law Students Association. Mr. Bruce is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Sigma Delta Tau Legal Fraternity and resides in Washington, D.C., with his wife.
